  • QuestionWhat happens when the 1 TB is full ? Is it going to overwrite it ?

    • Answer The drive is meant to store your data for a period of time and then the system will write over the oldest data. It's essentially a loop. So if you're getting five days worth of storage, it starts over at the beginning after the five days. If you want it to store for a longer period of time, you have to get a bigger storage device or you have to change the parameters of the recording. You can make the cameras only record when there is movement and then further change the parameters of the sensitivity to only sense bigger movements before recording. Those changes will extend the amount of recording time on your drive. Good luck!

    • Answer With the Night Owl DVR, it provides you an HDMI output to connect to one monitor; you may attempt to use an HDMI splitter to connect multiple monitors/TVs to the DVR.     • Answer Kit has 60 foot combination signal and power cables (BNC for signal,banana for power) , no wireless cameras. The camera power is supplied by a 120VAC to DC power pack that has a four lead pigtail to connect to the four camera cables.

    • Answer Yes, there are longer cables available. You can also use swann camera cables, they are at lowes for 25.00(ish) at 100' lengths. BEWARE, the longer the cable or if you attach the coupling to make them longer then th a video quality goes down. 100' is still great quality but after that it gets poor.

  • QuestionDoes each camera wire direct into the DVR separately? Does the DVR have to be centrally located and is the power supply for the DVR power the cameras? Just trying to picture in my mind how to set this up in my house. Thanks.

    • Answer each cam has a separate wire (60ft) run to the back of the dvr i have a triple ended extension cord for the setup. one for cam power, one for dvr power, and one for t.v. power. you can access the dvr through your smartphone for viewing away from your setup

    • Answer This Night Owl system comes with two power adapters that will allow you to connect all eight cameras since we provide a power splitter. This splitter will allow you to connect and power each camera via the BNC cable that comes included, we provide a BNC cable per camera and each cable is 60 ft in length.   • QuestionDoes it power with Ethernet cable or do i have to have ethernet and electric power outlet?

    • Answer The ethernet cable runs from your Dvr box to your internet router only if you want to be able to access the video online. It is secure and I like having the video feed accessible from my smartphone no matter where I am. Each camera has a cable that runs back to the dvr box and it is much easier to do than it sounds. This will provide your video feed and power. There is a system available that is "wireless", but that simply means you don't have a cord running back to the dvr box. However, you still have to find an outlet to plug each of these cameras into and I found it much easier to just conceal the cable that runs from the base.
