No, the AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED Lens is not compatible with the Nikon D700 Digital SLR Camera. The D700 is not compatible with AF-P type Nikkor lenses as these lenses use a newer electromagnetic focusing system that the D700 cannot communicate with. The D700 will be compatible with AF and AF-S type lenses.

Please try again later.The 70-300 FX AF-P is absolutely compatible with the 700- I use it all the time on my D700- and yes, it is the latest 70-300 AF-P VR (FX, not DX, which is not compatible). You need latest firmware, only issue is when meter times out the lens goes inactive. I just set my meter to stay active longer.
