• No, the AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 ED Lens will not work on the Nikon D40 Digital SLR camera. The D40 is not compatible with our newer AF-P electromagnetic focus system. The D40 will work with AF-S, D and G type lenses.
