The Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR will not focus as this lens is not compatible with the Nikon D7000 Digital SLR camera. The D7000 will not be compatible with most AF-P type lenses as it uses a new focus system that the D7000 is not able to use. AF-P lenses will be compatible with our newer series of cameras. When it comes to lenses for the D7000 you will want to look for AF-S lenses, as these use our standard focus system. If you have any other questions on lens compatibility, please contact Nikon Customer Support.
