Thats right @ 18mm f3.5 is your largest aperature. Your aperature gradually gets narrow thruout the focal length. Sorry if it sounds confusing, all you need to know is that the smaller the f # the more light is going to hit the film. That is why a 50mm f/1.4 is going to cost more than a 18.105 f/3.5-5.6. Learn to take pictures with a good normal lens first, you'll thank me later.
