The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Zoom lens is not a Micro lens, however, you can get close up images with it. The specifications for the lens you use will determine how close you can get while still maintaining focus. The minimum focus distance you can be from the subject with the AF-S 18-140mm lens is 1.48 feet or 0.45 m., which will allow you to get a macro-type image with a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.23x. If you are looking for a lens that will provide a closer view with more vivid detail at a macro level the AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED lens provides a 1.0x reproduction ratio and can let you get as close as 1.0 feet or 0.314 m. from the subject. An AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G lens will give you an even shorter focusing distance from the subject at 0.53 feet or 0.163 m. and has the same 1.0x reproduction ratio.
