• Yes, this lens is compatible with the D5000 and the D7000. A zoom range from 18mm to 200mm is great for sport action.

• Works with both the D5000 and the D7000. It is not a great lens for action sports, you would want a faster aperture lens for that, say, an f2.8 lens, however, those lenses can be quite expensive.
