“Need to take pics, sort of close (couple feet away), for posting items on line. Have a 3400 with DX 18-55 and DX 55-200. I can't seem to get a good "close up" of an item to put online. Seems to be inconsistent. So is this a good lens for that?”

The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ED lens has a minimum focus distance of 0.82 ft. (0.25m) and a reproduction ratio of 0.16x and will allow you to get stunning closeups with an amazing bokeh background. If you're interested in macro photography you may also want to take a look at dedicated lenses for macro, such as the AF-S AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G lens. The 40mm lens will allow a minimum focus distance of 0.53 ft. (0.163m) with a reproduction ratio of 1.0x, providing life-size images that are amazingly detailed.
