By all means. It can be used for small group shots at 55mm, individual portraits from 65-105 mm, still life, product shots & close ups at any focal length depending on what you are shooting as long as you have adequate lighting, i.e. studio lights or studio flash.

Prime lenses such as these are fast and have an aperture that is ideal for dreamy bokeh backgrounds for studio portrait photography.
