The D5000 usually comes with a 18-55mm lens. This lens is good for casual shooting...landscapes...close up portrait. The 55-200mm lens will be good for creating depth of field (DOF) effect from long distance. Good for general sports shots and nature. The 55-200mm picks up where the 18-55mm leaves off and will be a very good addition to your lens inventory.
