This lens should provide you adequate coverage for a soccer field without distortion

Please try again later.To get the whole field at once from the side using 14 mm youll need to be back about 50 yards (100 degree angle of view, a little more than 45 degrees left/right, so every yard back you'll be able to see a little more than that left and right). You could shoot from one end down the length of the field. The further away the action is from the camera the smaller (less detail) video you'll get. Of course you'll get a lot more closeup/detail if you use a longer focal length and have someone panning the camera or better yet walking up and down the field or even better with a zoom shooting from an elevated angle.
