We didn't use any filters and the lens is working great!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hey Lady Sue, No, you do not need any special filters. Some sales people try and get you to purchase high end HD filters to put on your new lenses. They say you may lose light, not get as sharp of a picture or not get the proper color... Good luck seeing any difference. Like the other guy mentioned, some people do not use filters to protect their lenses. The lenses are fine just out of the box. To me it's personal preference if you want the protection. I have always put a skylight filter on all my lenses. I'm pretty rough with my equipment, kids soccer games, football, baseball or hiking in the wilderness. It's always been better to replace a $40 to $60 filter than have to send a lens in for major repair. I've done both and the filter is cheaper and you're not out a lens. Hope that helped

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED is a high performance lens does not require the use of a filter. The use of filters is usually a matter of personal preference. Some users like to use an NC (neutral color) filter to protect the front of the lens, while others choose to use filters for special effects or enhancements. If you choose to use a filter, only the highest quality ones should be used as others can greatly reduce image quality.
