Had same problem and returned camera, You have to remove memory card and battery to turn back on. The one I had required me to do this after every time it was turned off.

I have only had it for about a week. Same thing: no drops or bumps. Only used at my home inside and outside so far. Will need to exchange or return as there are other issues like it takes 60 seconds or more between each picture I am allowed to snap. Also from the time I hit the button to the time the shutter captures the picture is a good 20 seconds which means I am missing important wildlife and children poses. Snapbridge is not always finding my phone even when they it is sitting right next to the camera! I also hoped I could get a week use out of camera before having to charge the battery but I can't. I bought a back up battery but you can not charge a 2nd battery and use your 1st battery in the camera as it can ONLY charge when it is inside the camera. Also disappointed with the flimsy weight of the camera. I wanted something light as I have arthritis but not so light and small that my hand cramps to hold it for long amounts of time. The quality of the photos has been excellent for the most part. I liked my Nikon Coolpix L18 a lot lot more than this except after years of use it is no longer focusing most of the time. I would love to have it work again with the added feature of WI FI and higher MP if Nikon could just improve what they already had.
