  • Questionevery time I take a picture of someone and they move a little it comes out blurry what am I doing wrong? what settings should it be set on .

    Asked by bowhntr.

    • Answer Blur like this is common when the subject moves while the camera’s shutter is still open. The camera’s shutter opens and closes to expose the sensor and take the picture, and it will stay open longer if more light is needed to get a properly exposed shot. The B500 determines the appropriate shutter speed based on the scene and on the camera’s other settings. If you are shooting in Scene Auto Selector mode then it may help to choose your Scene Mode manually instead. For help choosing a scene mode review the Characteristics of Each Scene which start on page 31 of the B500 Reference Manual. If you are shooting in Auto Mode you can try increasing your camera's sensitivity to light by raising your ISO setting. You can find detailed information about ISO sensitivity on page 110 of the B500 Reference Manual. You may also want to try using the flash (manual page 47) or trying one of the camera’s Continuous Shooting options (manual p 108). A copy of the B500 manual can be downloaded from this address: http://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/en/products/327/COOLPIX_B500.html . For additional assistance please contact Nikon Support.

  • QuestionI pressed Macro mode and still got blurry pictures. I need close ups and cant get them. Do I need tor return my camera? Is it defective?

    Asked by mandy.

    • Answer The Nikon COOLPIX B500 digital camera's Macro setting can be turned on when you're in Auto Mode (green camera icon). After pressing the Macro button make sure you are selecting "ON" and then the "OK" button to set the camera to macro. Once the camera is set to macro you will see a zoom indicator bar at the top of the screen. When the zoom ratio is set to a position in the bar that is colored green, the camera can focus on subjects as close as approximately 10 cm (4 inches) from the lens. When the zoom position is at the wide-angle and in the middle of this colored area of the bar the camera can focus on subjects as close as approximately 1 cm (0.4 inches) from the lens. To get a focal lock, point to your subject and press the shutter button down halfway. A green box will appear if the camera has been able to focus. If you are unable to see a green focus area box pull a bit away from the subject and try again. Once you have a focal lock on your subject you can press the shutter down fully to get a sharp, quality image. If you still have problems getting a quality image after trying these steps, please contact Nikon Support.

  • QuestionCab the auto flash be over-ridden so the flash can be fired on sunny days to delete shadows?

    Asked by GreatPicsKid.

    • Answer In order to use flash with every image in Auto, raise the flash and press the lightning icon on the selector button (the big button that surrounds the "OK" button). This will give you choices for the flash when it is open. Choose "Fill Flash" and then the "OK" button again and the flash will fire whenever you take a shot. To stop using the flash just close the flash. The option you chose for your flash will be saved on the camera for the next time you turn on the camera and use Auto. Using flash in a brightly-lit situation may cause over-exposure. If this occurs turn the flash off again by pressing down the pop-up flash to close it.
