To have a remote option the COOLPIX B500 has to be connected to a compatible smart device that's running the Nikon SnapBridge application. If you're looking to be in images you take, this camera has a self-timer option that can release the shutter after 10 seconds, 5 seconds or 2 seconds after pressing the shutter release button. To lower the sound move the Zoom Control Button towards the "T"; to raise the volume or unmute move the toggle button towards the "W". Both applications allow the camera to connect with a compatible smart device for easy transfer but they do differ in how they work. Another difference is that the B500 has a faster frame rate of 7 shots at about 7.4 fps while the L830 gives you 5 shots at approximately 6.7 fps.
