The COOLPIX W300’s default image size for still photos is 4608x3456 which has an aspect ratio (ratio of horizontal to vertical) of 4:3. This is a standard aspect ratio for still photos. A 16:9 aspect ratio is a better match for wider TV screens and monitors and can be achieved by changing your Image Mode setting. To do this go to the camera's Shooting Menu, Navigate to Image Mode, then select the option for 4608x2592. Since Movies are shot in the 16:9 aspect ratio this image size is a good choice for images that will be added to movies. However, if you plan to print images later then this is not a good choice since standard photo print sizes are not this wide. In addition, changing to this image size reduces your resolution from approximately 16 MP to approximately 12MP.
