“Lens degradation In a British review comparing the 5300 and the 5200 cameras, mention was made that the lens supplied with the camera (same ones offered with the 3300) made their (larger than the ones on the 3300) full sensors less effective than some of their less generously megapixel endowed better image with lower megapixel competitors. Photos using alternate lenses on those 2 Nikon cameras (and some on lesser competitor's) seemed to prove their point that different lenses could vastly improve the 5300's images. I am THINKING about getting the 3300 rather than the 5300 more for that reason, especially if the supplied lenses are more suited to the 3/4 sensor than the full sensor and may result in as good or better pictures for a lower price. I don't mind losing some of the 5300 features, but picture clarity and sound (see my Q on mic input jacks) are a must have. DO THE SUPPLIED LENSES DEGRADE THE PICTURE QUALITY ON THE 3300 as they are REPORTED to do on the 5300 OR is that not an issue with the 3300? Has the issue been resolved, perhaps, on the 5300? If the reported issue with the 5300 has been resolved, I might consider the 5300 instead of the 3300; has it been resolved? Please let me know all the answers to this many faceted set of questions concerning the reported lens degradation issue. Thanks.”
