“What do the size of the pictures do and matter. Is their a default setting that should be used. And what about the jpeg setting any the raw. I don't know what that means thanks”

The image area comes in 3 sizes: (L) 6,000 x 4,000, (M) 4,496 x 3,000, and (S) 2,992 x 2,000. The bigger the image area you choose the more pixels used and thus better image produced. I believe (M) is the default option and pictures look fine on that. If you plan to print pictures on a bigger canvas, however, a lower pixel count might create pixelated images. JPEG and RAW are how the camera saves your pictures. RAW files require a special program on your computer to read the image, but the end result is a clearer picture more reminiscent of the actual object photographed. A JPEG is a "compressed" file of your picture on your memory card. More compressed = less quality in the end.
