Can you adapt a microphone to do videos? null

There is no microphone input on the D3500 so if you want audio form an external source you will have to sync it in a video program later. Also note that the D3500 limits video to 20 minutes per take (the D3300 allows 30 minutes, which is the limit for a "camera" -- after that it has to be called a camcorder). So if you want to record something longer than 20 minutes you'll need to do it in spurts or use a different camera.

The Nikon D3500 does not have a port for an external microphone. It uses a Built-in, monaural microphone.
