There are a few slight improvements between the D3400 and D3500. These improvements include: enhanced battery life (approx. 1,550 vs 1,200 shots per charge), smaller and lighter weight body, and remote shooting capability within our SnapBridge app.

Please try again later.d3400 is built better but does not have bluetooth/snapbridge functionality. d3500 is a somewhat cheapo version (see placement of buttons etc.), lacks the sensor around the hand grip (no need as you can use snapbridge on your smartphone to capture an image remotely, no need for additonal hardware) and d3500 has much better battery life. d3500 has some issue in capturing images at high zoom and high shutter speed in certain lighting conditions (see my review). not sure about d3400 as i have not tested it.
