Yes. D5500 uses the Nikon F mount and can accept hundreds of different Nikon and third party lenses. Autofocus only works with AF-S lenses (which is pretty much any lens made in the last 15 years) not the old "screwdriver" Nikon AF lenses. You will want to get a real hard plastic "locking" rear cap for your lens. The D5500 kit only comes with a soft white "slip on" cap for shipping. The proper cap is like $10.

AI and AF-type lenses can also be used but must be focused manually as the Nikon D5500 camera does not have a built-in focus motor.
