For macro work you will want to try something like the Nikon AF-S Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8G ED Macro lens or the Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED Macro lens. These two macro lenses will allow you to get an extreme close-up of your subject; a 1:1 reproduction ratio at a wide f/2.8 maximum aperture. This aperture size will help to create a sharp and vibrant image, even in low light situations. Either of these lenses will work extremely well with the Nikon D5500 which offers 5 frames per second at full resolution when placed in continuous, however, the built-in flash can not be used when in any continuous mode. For options regarding flash you will want to look into compatible speedlights for the Nikon D5500 that provide continuous options. For more information please contact Nikon Support.
