“Is it worth buying a 1, 2, or 3 year warranty through Best Buy? I am going to buy the D5500, which comes with the manufacturer warranty that is "1 year limited." This is my first dslr camera, and I have no idea whether it is worth paying the $180 about for a 3 year warranty, or maybe do the 1 or 2 year. Any advice?”

I did not purchase an extra warranty. You can have your camera cleaned and serviced by a professional for less than $180. You should read up on how to keep the camera clean and how to prevent accidents. I would think if there was a manufacturing defect you would know it within the first year.

I think the only thing it doesn't cover is if it is absolutely crushed, like being run over by a car. You can also get it cleaned every year and it's worth it for this reason alone.

Well worth it, any drops and they replace the camera and or lens. And you can take it in for free rutine cleaning anytime.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would definitely buy the protection, it covered drops and mishap's as well as so many other things that can go wrong. I buy the protection on all of my electronics from Best Buy the Mfg doesn't cover mishaps like drops or water damage
