Nikon only ships the newer EN-EL15 battery types. This will work fine in your D500.

Not sure about the s version but All my En-El 15 batteries work in my D500. Totally pleased with product as my D500 uses more battery power than my D750 or my D7100. This battery works in all three. Naturally the 2016 battery I have works longer as its newer but my 2013 and 2014.l batteries work as well...just don't last as long. Hope this helps!

Yes. Works very well. No issues, holds a charge very well when not in the camera.
