These are great binoculars to take on a safari. More powerful binoculars would shake more over bumps. These are light and easy to hold steady and they are a great value! They also appear to be very rugged, and are waterproof and fogproof.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Nikon PROSTAFF 3S 8 x 42 Binoculars have multilayer coatings to provide high light transmittance across the entire visible light spectrum. These binoculars are light and sturdy and will work well to help you see the distant scene before you with amazing clarity.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I recently went on an African Safari in Kruger National Park with a pair of lightweight and inexpensive binoculars. The Nikon Prostaff 8 x 42 would have been much better, and its added size and weight would have been acceptable. I don't know about the bumpy jeep ride. But, I would guess that a large field of view and a lower magnification would be best for a bumpy ride. Our guide always stopped the jeep to allow us to observe the animals. Kruger is not open plains where you might see animals hundreds of yards away. Most of our animals were quite close to us. The higher quality of the Prostaff would have been worth the extra cost to me on my trip. I am not sure an even more expensive pair would have been worth it. The quality of your camera will probably be more important.
