Yes, these older amiibo characters will work with splatoon 2. They provide unique outfits (shoes, hat, clothes - robot, samurai, school outfit) depending on which level you are. Not sure if they are the same things provided with splatoon 2 amiibo characters. The outfits are unique looking but don't provide any unique powers you can't obtain from outfits purchased at the store.
