As of March 2023, the 3DS eShop has been discontinued. Your eShop card will not work.

It is my understanding that the 3DS shop is no longer available. My son asked me to purchase a few items earlier this year because it was shutting down.

As of Aug. 29th, you can no longer add funds on the 3ds but if you have Merge funds, you can still add funds on the Nintendo switch. I hope that helps.
