• Typically no, but in some GameStops, you are allowed to play on the display models of the Nintendo 3DS's they have available.

• The best buy I went to had one on display to be able to view and play with and the ones to purchase locked up below in a case! An employee did end up opening the box for me but just to make sure I was buying the right charging cord for my device!
