No. If you bought more joy cons you would have more people. It’s set up out of the box to allow two people to okay assuming the game you bought is multi player. 2 or more people.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Like she said, depends on the game. Some games support using each Joy Con "half" as it's own controller-though they're not very comfortable like that, and they don't give you a full set of controls like that, so that can't work for every game. Otherwise of course you can attach/sync additional controllers to the system, whether they're additional "Joy Cons" or other controllers.

This can be setup form the controller options on the main menu with the controller grip settings. It's up to the developer to make the game support this but so far most have. My girlfriend and I play Shovel Knight together this way!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Each Joy Con acts as it's own control, turned sideways acts as 2 remotes for 2 player games
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.no one set of joy con controllers can be used as 2 controllers if you turn it and connect it with the 2 top buttons
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Pull the joy con off the unit and set the screen up to play two players or hook it to the tv. It’s really very straight forward. Buy another pair to play 4 player for games like Mario Kart. Great little toy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No you don’t unless if the game requires full controls. If the game supports horizontal controls like for instance Mario kart 8 deluxe.
