Does the new update have directv now app? null

No it does not have that app, It does however come with PLEX

Still not available as of 1 Dec 2017. Supposedly it can be side loaded, but I have not tried. Streaming via tablet over chromecast is not very good ( at least on my ac wifi network). My Nvidia shield is directly connected to my wireless network switch.

You can download any app that is available from the Google Play Store.
