“Can you use this as a tablet? I need to download pdf files for reading. Haven't found any tablet nearly as nice as this for the price, but being able to download those files is a must.”

you can cast from your smartphone whatever you want to read on tv screen, google chromecast is inbuilt in this device.

It’s android based. You can install apps. You should be able to download a web browser and a pdf reader.

You might be able to open pdf files but can't be used as tablet cuz it doesn't have touch controls but it can run most of the apps a tablet would

No, the Nvidia Shield TV has no screen. there is another nvidia product which is a tablet for use with a tv, but this is not it.

No, it only hooks up to a TV or Monitor though HDMI.
