- Answer You do not need an iphone at all. When you connect for the first time, you can enter your WIFI information, you will however probably need a gmail account, since this uses google store. It's a great product, I recommend purchasing a long MicroUSB cable for extended use, instead of recharging every hour..

Each app will tell you if its needed all the time or just for the initial download of the app. After that much of the programming depends on what you're looking to watch. If you want Netflix, the app is free however you need a subscription. However there is a lot of free quality programs in 3d. Pluto is also on there
