There are ports on top of the machine. I hear audio through the headphones and there is also a mic port. My display port connector connects to my monitor and my monitor has a headphone jack behind it. Audio also comes through there. So if you're using your tv, you will hear audio from the tv speakers and audio from the headphone port/jack. There are 3 ports in the back. Blue, green and pink. I believe the pink one is what you are talking about.
