It says assignable and I haven't checked the downloadable manual to see how to do it. In any case, most old turntables will need a Pre-Amp to connect. Also you'll need to find out whether you have a moving magnet (MM) or a moving coil (MC) cartridge to get the correct pre-amp. Find the Brand and model number and search online to verify. You can buy a pre-amp for anywhere from $29.99 to over a thousand dollars. The more expensive ones have specifications you can see on an oscilloscope but you can't hear it unless you have a very critical ear. For the average person the $29.99 to $59.99 will be good enough. If you don't want to spend the money, you can connect your turntable to an older receiver and use any output (Tape, Monitor, VCR) and plug into this one. If it is MM a Pyle - PP999 - Phono Pre-Amplifier will work. It is on sale at Best Buy for $18.99 today.
