• The European model has three digital inputs, including an optical input. The North American model has only analog inputs (RCA jacks).

• You cannot connect directly via optical. You need to purchase an "optical/coaxial Digital-to-analog converter" . I purchased an Insignia unit , model NS-HZ313 , SKU #4226000 from BestBuy.com. You also will need a pair of RCA analog cables to connect the converter to your amplifier. Hope this solves your problem.
