Q: QuestionDolby Atmos is only available via a firmware update. I have followed the instructions and it always errors with code 0-70. I see many others have had this issue. Has anyone successfully updated? And how did you do it? I bought this b/c it has Atmos.

• A:Answer It does require update. On the specs for this amp on Amazon it says right there,"Atmos available with update". Which is R108. My Amp had R106. Some owners say they have R110 which isn't even available to download from Onkyo.I returned this and got a Sony which also needed an update, but it worked! Used then same USB drive too! Pity Onyko has no support. I liked the amp. Oh, well.

• A:Answer None of that is true, there is no "phone" preamp in, you will need a preamplifier to connect to this unit. I would suggest checking Fluance phone preamplifier...its amazing

• A:Answer If what you're watching is filmed in surround sound, it will come out of all 5 speakers. If it is filmed in stereo sound, it will only come out of the front 2 speakers. So it depends on what you're watching.
