“Can I connect speakers of any brand to this Onkyo system? Or do I have to use Onkyo brand speakers only? Also, will I also have to purchase an amplifier system to connect speakers? I am shooting for a CD/ Bluetooth system that I can connect speakers also”

You can use any brand speaker with this receiver, and you do not need an additional amplifier as this receiver has a built in amplifier. Just connect your speakers via the red/black terminals on the back, and connect your CD player via RCA/Optical/Coax (whichever connection your CD player has) and follow the setup instructions. You'll be all set.
