“Having problems getting zone 2 speakers to work. Only once I heard the left speaker in zone 2 play very soft. This is the reason I bought this unit at Christmas for new house we just moved into was for the 2 speaker zones. Very frustrating.”

You have to activate Zone 2 in the set up menu for speakers. It’s maddening and took me an hour to figure it out, but you only have to do it once and then it should work.
