“I recently purchased the Onkyo NR686 receiver. Have connected my cable box to the receiver with a HDMI cable and receiver to my Sony TV with a HDMI cable but I cannot get any video on the TV only audio. Ideas? Thanks!”

First check the output cable from the receiver is connected to the correct TV input. Also, check to determine if you've selected the correct output on the remote. Example, my roku is connected to the streaming output.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Did you use the Main HDMI Output Jack on the back of REC/AMP? There are 2 HDMI Output Jacks. 1 is the main & the other is audio from what I understand. I no use for it. Hope this helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.On the back of your tv look for an hdmi “ARC” input. Plug your hdmi cable from there and plug the other end to the “ARC” MAIN on the back of your receiver. This is my setup. I hope it works for you. Good luck.
