“Received this as a gift. Can this unit be set up without a tv? I turned it on and it says "initial setup - see tv". We don't own a tv. thanks, Jeff”

Actually I found out you can do some limited set up with the remote. That's all I needed for now to listen to some music.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, instructions for setup are given on the TV, Also you have to answer questions about speaker setup by selecting answers from a list on the TV. If you have a computer with a separate monitor you can connect it to the receiver temporarily . Once the setup is done you could use it without a tv. There is an extensive user manual on the Onkyo website.
