Hello LeeLee, The TXSR494 has dual zone function but it is called Zone B. With Zone B, you can adjust the volume but it will be a same source that would be playing in the main room. If you are looking to have a different source on another zone you would have to go with the TXNR6100 and up for the zone 2 function. That function would then allow you to play a separate source from the main room. Thank you Onkyo
