Magic Jack requires a computer to run or be running in order for it to work. Where as Ooma is it's own computer an telco device all in one. that is why I prefer Ooma. Yes you can take it out of the country just make sure that you have the proper power adapters for it to work. Ted
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Never used magic jack, but this is a very good unit. I don't think you can can because it goes by your area code and phone number. Yes it will work in other countries a friend said they bought one for his mother in law and they have one so they can talk for hours and don't have to pay for long distance prices.
