I believe Ooma charged me $39.99 to port my existing phone number to their system. It was well-worth the lower monthly fee I am now charged compared with the Frontier and Verizon VOIP services I used to have. Less than $7/mo now, or if I want premium features (call forwarding, etc), it would be $18/mo.

Once that happened, RCN kicked me out of my triple play plan and doubled my bill so bye-bye RCN. I’ve had the OOMA system for ~6mos now and it seems to be decent phone quality. They automatically sign you up for their premium plan’ and start billing you after the free trial. I knew I wouldn’t use those features (call forwarding, et. al.) so I called them to have the free trial removed, which they did.
