You can hook a Ooma to a range extender and it will work. But it will work badly because it is in competition with your other wireless traffic. So you may hear some echoing but if you don't mind that then it will work. Ted

If you don't have that much network activity then you will be okay with putting it on your router. If you call quality suffers you may want to change it. Personally I have two ooma's and I have tried them in a variety of configurations. I have found that if you put it between the router and the modem since all network traffic has to go though it. The ooma last about a year to a year and a half before needing to be replaced. The ones that I have put on the router have work just fine for over ten years. I hope this helps answer you question.
