A:Answer As long as you are able to output from your cable box to HDMI it will work great ! It will not however work as a receiver directly ( meaning it doesn't have a cable input ) . I have hooked this up to my Cable / Computer / Laptop / and another Media Player , all of which have HDMI outputs. Even the built in speakers were ample for a small room, though for a bit sports game you would probably want to improve upon that.
