there are 2 main differences from what I can see. the most obvious is the Optoma UHD51ALV is rated at 3,000 lumens vs. 2,400 for the UHD51A. in Optoma literature, the "LV" in the model number stands for lights on viewing. the other difference that I can see is the color wheel on UHD51ALV is utilizing RGBWRGBW type, while UHD51A shows RGBRGB color wheel.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No big difference. The ALV has the brighter bulb, hence more lumens.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It appears to add compatibility with amazon alexa and offer a brighter 3000 lumens for rooms without controlled lighting. https://www.avsforum.com/forum/68-digital-projectors-under-3-000-usd-msrp/3001622-optoma-uhd51alv.html?t=3001622
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The difference comes from the fact the 51ALV using a RGBWRGBW color wheel with a white segment for a brighter image where as the UHD51 uses a RGBRGB for better color accurate image.
