Do the oven work without using the timer???? null

No. The timer is basically the on button. You have to turn the dial past 20 minutes and then turn back if you need less time. I wanted to heat up pizza so I turned past 20 minutes, let the oven warm up and then put pizza in and timed it for 5 minutes elsewhere and then turned the dial back to zero when I was done. It's a little different but easy to work around.
