“Is the outer back side of the case a rubber type material like the sides are or is the outer backside more of a smooth surface?”

• It is a hard rubber texture with horizontal lines etched into it every inch or so for texture.

• The entire shell on the outside is a rubber type but the part you actually put your phone into is a hard plastic & the rubber part is on the outside to help Protect it from drops, etc.
