Of course it can cause your iPad to overheat. Bulk of the answers provided in this forum are from casual users. I use my iPad as a productivity device and as my sole gaming solution. Have done this for many years. iPad’s fan-less design requires the heat be dissipated through the chassis, but if the chassis is encased in, let’s say an otterbox, then of course the case will contribute to heating issues. I have had to remove the case while using my iPad Pro to prolong intensive app usage before throttling kicks in. Anyone who holds a naked iPad in hand during prolonged and intense use can tell you that the iPad gets super hot. I mean it’s basic physics (thermal dynamics) so I’m shocked that so many of the commenters have never sat through a single physics course. Shame really. But yes, the case can contribute to overheating when intense apps are running for a prolonged time. But if you’re a casual user like, what appears to be the bulk of theses commenters, then you shouldn’t worry. Otterbox is a great solution for protecting your investment. But know that prolonged intense use case generally aren’t recommended while housed in an otterbox defender series case. Cheers!
