When face down, depending on your visual angle to the phone, you may not see the light directly on the screen because the edges do stick out, giving it awning-like coverage. However, the top and bottom parts of the case keep the phone elevated when face down, which protects the screen as well, so you can see the edge colors mostly by tabletop surface reflection... but you could also see direct screen illumination if your angle is right.
